  1. I haven’t read all the comments so I don’t know if anyone else brought this up, but it sounds like she has ADD/ADHD. That can cause a person to shut down when presented with too many options or too many steps to complete an option and they end up doing nothing. Someone giving them MORE options just makes it worse and they can’t even think about how to verbalize what they are feeling or even understand it. Like filling a cup with water – her cup was already full and she didn’t know how to handle it, but when she turned to you for help you just kept pouring more into it. IF she is ADHD and isn’t aware of it, she was not trying to be difficult or annoy you and is probably frustrated and annoyed herself when you couldn’t make her feel better (because you didn’t understand what was really going on). Best bet in that case is to stop giving more options, and present solutions. Instead of “could do this, or this or this” say “Ok, I’ll order you some Chinese”. When the decision is made for her, it might stop the spiral and get her to focus, especially if she doesn’t want Chinese.

    Also, sometimes people with ADD/ADHD need a “body shadow”, someone to just be in the room with them while they complete tasks. On the phone doesn’t help, although a video chat might. Your edit about her wanting you to do things WITH her and not doing basic stuff unless you are there, sounds like she needs a body shadow.
